Admission and entrance

An entrance examination conducted by MTU, open to 10+2 with 50% aggregate and 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or 2.4 GPA with C+ in each of the three and C elsewhere, or a Diploma in Engineering3.

Manmohan Technical University's rule for the whole system: An entrance examination conducted by the university, with selection on merit from that examination3. Its portal is mtu.edu.np/admissions.

Further notes from the sources

  • All three bachelor degrees hold temporary recognition, granted 2082-02-29. The school itself was first approved in 2078, so it taught for four years before the regulator recognised a single programme.1
  • This is the only engineering school in the record teaching both Electrical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering as two separate degrees with two separate approvals.1
  • The university was founded in 2019 and runs three schools: engineering, applied science and law, and medicine and allied health sciences. It states more than 500 students enrolled across all three.2
  • A 10+2 Biology-stream applicant is eligible only after passing an additional mathematics course, with a combined Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics score of 50% or a 2.4 GPA. The school states that condition on the programme page rather than in a separate notice.3
  • Each semester is defined as 90 working days, about fifteen academic weeks, and the evaluation period is counted inside that. Few Nepali engineering programmes publish the working-day count.3
  • The university's open-admission list for 2026/27 carries law, pharmacy and hospital management and no engineering programme at all, with deadlines through 19 September 2026.4
  • It also runs a Masters in Power System Engineering, which the regulator does not register as a bachelor engineering programme and which is therefore not counted in the three above.2
